With increasing WiFi AP speeds, existing 1Gbps links may not provide enough bandwidth. NBASE-T allows 2.5Gbps and 5Gbps to run over existing Cat 5e cable, but only if the cable will support these higher speeds. The best practice is to certify the existing cable for the higher speeds before deploying the new APs. In this video we look at how to create a Modular Plug Terminated Link (MPTL) test for the Fluke Networks DSX-8000. To perform the MPTL test, you will need a patch cord adapter for the remote end. Since we are testing Cat 6 in this video, you would need a DSX-PC6 adapter. The Channel adapter will not work for this test.
